Description

The Roman Catholic Church of St Mary, located on North Parade, was designed by E J Willson and built in 1832. The church is constructed of stone with a slate roof and features a brick apse at the west end. It has a stone plinth, a modillion cornice, and a parapet. The center of the east façade projects forward and includes a pedimented doorway supported by Roman Ionic columns. There is a window on either side of the doorway, both with a moulded architrave and cornice. The bell tower features a window topped with a stone cupola. There has been some modern work done to the north side of the church. A photograph of the church is held in the National Monuments Record.
