Description

8 and 10 Red Lion Square are a building dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. Constructed of coursed stone, the building has a stone slate roof. It is three storeys high and originally featured two windows to numbers 3 and 9, each a double-hung sash window with glazing bars. Number 10 has a curved corner frontage with four windows, also double-hung sashes with glazing bars. A central modern entrance is framed by Greek Doric columns, topped by a slightly projecting moulded hood with futtae. Shops with thin pilasters and modern doors, set beneath rectangular fanlights, were added to numbers 8 and 9 in the 19th century. Numbers 6 to 10, along with the Public Waiting Room, form a group.
