Description
The Public Waiting Room, built in 1861, is located on the west side of Red Lion Square. It is constructed from ashlar and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and four windows, which are double-hung sashes with glazing bars. Below the label, there is a coat of arms, and above the three-bay round-headed arcade, there is a small dentil cornice. The moulded arches include a keystone, and there are modern shop fronts that are set back. The roof curves around the corner to the left. This building was formerly known as the Buttermarket. It is part of a group with Nos 6 to 10, which are consecutive.
