Description
The Old House is a house dating from the 17th century, with 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, stone coped gables with ball finials, three stone ridge stacks, and a pantiled roof. The original layout was L-shaped, with a later added parallel range at the rear.
The building has an irregular five-bay front over two storeys. The central entrance features a 17th-century nine-panelled door with a moulded stone surround. To the left of the door is a four-light ovolo moulded mullioned window with a moulded surround, followed by a two-light mullioned window. To the right of the door, there is a single 19th-century casement window in a moulded stone surround, with a further 17th-century three-light mullioned window beyond. The three first-floor windows are all three-light mullioned casement windows with moulded stone surrounds, and all 17th-century openings have moulded cornices.
