Description
The lodge and gates to Caythorpe Hall were built in 1823 by William Parsons and have had some additions and alterations in the 20th century. The structure is made of dressed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings. It features a stone-coped shaped Dutch gable on the road elevation and a slate roof with a moulded triple tunnel ridge stack. The gable end facing the road has rusticated quoins and includes a splayed bay window with four mullioned casement lights topped by a hipped stone roof. Above this is a two-light mullioned casement window with a moulded cornice above it. The entrance front on the east side has been altered and extended in the 20th century. The adjacent gate piers are square and rusticated, featuring moulded cornices and large stone balls, while the original swept wrought iron gates remain in place.
