Description

The Pigeoncote at Home Farm is an 18th-century structure that has undergone some alterations in the 19th century. It is built from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a hipped pantiled roof topped by an open cupola with a shaped lead roof. The building has a square plan and stands two storeys tall. On the south side, there are two broad waggon arches with flat timber lintels, separated by a square brick pier. Above the left arch is a square hole with a segmental brick head, which contains a timber panel featuring two tiers of double flight holes with perches in front. Inside, access to the upper floor is provided by a ladder from below, and the upper walls are lined with 223 brick nest boxes.
