Description
The Malthouse, dated 1866, is a three-storey building with a four-storey central cross wing. It is constructed of red brick accented with yellow brick bands, lintels, and a patterned eaves cornice. The cross wing features ashlar quoins, a bracketed cornice, and a distinctive prow-like hoist projection that juts out from the gable. This projection is three-sided and corbelled out over a second-floor doorway, with the eaves cornice forming a peak above a stone slant. The building has deep-set, camber-headed, nearly square windows, with four located to the right of the cross wing and fewer to the left. The cross wing intersects with a range of equal height behind the front range, and the roofs are covered with slate.
