Description

No. 58 High Street is a late 19th-century building that stands three storeys tall with attics, constructed in ashlar and decorated with terra cotta. It features a mansard roof made of Welsh slate, with stone-capped gable ends. The roof includes two gabled dormers that have kneelers and chamfered arches, but no glazing bars.

The building's eaves are supported by moulded stone brackets, and it has a window arrangement of three groups of one window, one window, and three windows, all with segmental chamfered heads in red and yellow, and an architrave that is rusticated in yellow. The outer windows are two-light designs, separated by columns that have foliated capitals. A band runs along the cills, and the windows are connected by a red band at the impost height.

The first-floor windows are similar to those below but are taller and feature rounded blocked heads with cusped recesses. There are finials above masks at the gable ends, and an egg and dart moulded cornice leads to a contemporary shop front. Below the second-floor cill band, there is scrolled ornamentation in yellow on red. The roof is topped with red ridge tiles and there are two stone stacks with cornices supported by brackets.

Nos. 53 to 59, Nos. 61 to 69, and Nos. 68 to 73 form a group with this building.
