Description

The monument to Viscount Alford, located in Belton Park Golf Club, was built around 1852. It is made of ashlar stone and features a circular pier on a double plinth that supports an urn, which is richly decorated with fruit and flowers. On either side of the decoration, there are a pair of animal heads, and the top of the urn is encircled with vine leaves and grapes. An inscription in Roman capitals is found on the south side of the pillar, which reads: "Vale! Mi Fili Dilectissime Has Inter Arbores Feliciore Olim Auspicio Tuo Nomini Consecretas Contra Votum Flens Hoc Posui Pater Infelix."
