Description
Church Cottages is a pair of cottages built around 1857, with some minor alterations made in the 20th century. They are constructed from coursed ironstone rubble, featuring limestone ashlar dressings and quoins. The cottages have pantile roofs with raised stone coped gables that include kneelers and finials. There is a single moulded brick valley stack. The buildings are arranged in parallel ranges with their gables facing the street. They are single storey with attics and have a two-bay front that includes two three-light mullioned lattice windows with cornices. Above these are two originally similar windows, now fitted with 20th-century metal casements, which also have stone surrounds and cornices. In the gables, there are single trilobes. Lean-to porches on either side have single fixed lights, and above these porches are gabled two-light dormers. The cottages are included in the listing for their group value.
