Description
The Waggon Hovel and Stores at Tower Farm is an early 19th-century structure that has been altered and extended in the mid-19th century. It is built from coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, with red brick elements. The roofs are covered with pantiles, and the barn has a single stone-coped gable, while the later store has a plain tiled roof. The building is arranged in an L-shape.
The central two-storey waggon hovel has a hayloft above, characterized by three openings that are divided by square ashlar pillars with chamfered corners. These pillars support semi-circular brick arches, which have brick tympana and wooden lintels. There are ashlar imposts and a band above these arches. Above the arches, there are two narrow planked openings. To the right, there is a single-storey block with two narrow lights. To the left, a projecting gabled block features two paired semi-circular headed lights, with a planked opening above.
