Description
Tower Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse built from coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. It has plain tiled roofs and two brick wall stacks with moulded tops. The building is two storeys high with a three-bay front, where the central bay is recessed and flanked by gabled bays. It has a plinth and overhanging eaves supported on stone blocks.
The central doorway is blocked and now contains a 20th-century casement, flanked by single paired plain mullioned glazing bar lights. On the first floor, the central window is a 20th-century casement, flanked by two similar two-light windows. All openings have plain ashlar surrounds and lintels.
On the left side wall, there are two blank semi-circular headed arches. In the left rear corner, there is a three-storey square tower with a hipped tiled roof, featuring overhanging eaves supported on stone blocks, a plinth, a second-floor sill band, and an eaves band. The ground floor of the tower has two single narrow plain lights, while the first floor has a single fixed light and the second floor has a single plain casement window, all with plain ashlar surrounds. This farmhouse was designed as part of the Grimsthorpe Estate for the Willoughby de Eresby family.
