Description
Norwood Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with extensions from the late 18th century and extensive alterations made in the mid-19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a Bradstone slate roof with two gable stone stacks. The building is designed in an L-shape and is single storey with attics. The original two-bay 17th-century range includes an off-centre panelled door set within a rusticated Doric ashlar surround, complete with a flat lintel and keyblock. To the right, there is a 20th-century three-light casement window. The roof features two gabled dormers, each with two-light casements and rendered cheeks. To the left, there is a separately gabled range that is two storeys high with a garret. This range has a single bay front, with 20th-century two-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, adorned with moulded 19th-century hoods. The garret features a blank four-centred arched opening with a cornice, which appears to be a re-used fire surround. Above this, there is an oval plaque and a moulded finial on the gable.
