Description

The stable block at Cold Harbour Farm dates from the mid-18th century, with a 19th-century addition and minor 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone, featuring ashlar and red brick dressings, and has hipped pantile roofs with coped ashlar gables and ashlar and red brick quoins.

The building is two storeys high with a central section that has three windows, flanked by slightly lower wings, the right wing containing a later addition. The southwest front has a slightly projecting central section with a stable door set in a round-headed doorway, which has a plain ashlar surround with impost blocks and a keystone. On either side of the door are single round-headed windows with glazing bars, also in ashlar surrounds with keystones. Above the door are two blocked windows, the one on the right featuring an ashlar surround.

Each of the flanking wings has a central doorway with an ashlar surround and keystone, with single circular windows on either side, also with ashlar surrounds and four keystones. Above these are two Diocletian windows with ashlar surrounds and keystones in each wing. To the right, there is a later blank extension with red brick quoins. The facade features a single late 20th-century projecting canopy that spans the entire front. The left return is blank, while the right return has a single round-headed doorway with a brick surround, and above it to the right is a single blocked loft opening with a similar surround. The rear of the building has a slightly recessed central section and a brick extension to the left.
