Description

Manor House is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with extensions and alterations made in the early 18th century, possibly by Robert Wright in 1719. The west wing was rebuilt in 1878 after a fire, and there have been minor alterations in the 20th century. The building features coursed limestone rubble, squared limestone rubble, and ashlar quoins and dressings. It has a Collyweston slate roof with one tall hipped end and a single ashlar gable stack with painted shafts and a cornice. There is also a yellow brick 19th-century wing with a hipped plain tiled roof.

The central block is from the 17th century, with an early 18th-century east wing and a west wing from 1878. The house is two storeys high with attics and has a four-bay front. The right-hand two bays of the 18th-century section are advanced under a hipped roof, featuring a plinth, a first-floor band, and rusticated quoins. The central entrance has a six-panel door with an ashlar surround and a stepped keyblock. To the left, there is a glazing bar sash window, and to the right, there are two similar windows, with three more on the first floor. All the right-hand windows have plain ashlar architraves with stepped keyblocks. The roof includes two hipped dormers with glazing bar lights.

To the left, the two-bay, two-storey yellow brick section rebuilt in 1878 has plain sashes on both floors. At the rear of the 18th-century range, there is a tall glazing bar stair light with an arched head and stone surround. The staircase features turned balusters, a moulded handrail, open strings with moulded treads and returns, and dado panelling. The large inglenook fireplace in the 17th-century part has been altered in the 20th century.
