Description

This chest tomb, dating from around 1690, is located by the south wall of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Bitchfield and Lower Bitchfield. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a moulded base and top. The front of the tomb has two inscription panels, which are separated by narrow decorative panels. The corners of the tomb are adorned with sinuous leafy stems. The rear of the tomb is blank, resting against the church wall.
