Description
This pair of houses, located opposite Shepherds Barn, dates from the late 18th century and has undergone minor alterations in the 20th century. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with ashlar quoins and dressings. The roofs are a mix of slate and concrete tiles, featuring raised stone coped gables and single ridge and gable yellow brick stacks with stone bases. The buildings are two storeys plus a garret, with a six-bay front. Each house has a central half-glazed door flanked by single glazing bar sash windows. On the first floor, there are three similar windows, with the central ones being very narrow. All openings are topped with timber lintels. The house on the left includes a 20th-century wooden porch, and between the two houses at first floor level is a bronze plaque from the Britannia Insurance Company indicating fire insurance.
