Description
Phoenix House is a cottage dating from around 1700, which was restored in 1826 and has had minor alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. It has a pantile roof with stone-coped gables and includes two gable and one ridge red brick stacks. The layout is a lobby entry plan, and the cottage is single storey with attics. The front has four bays, with an off-centre six-panel door. To the left of the door, there is a single glazing bar casement, and to the right, there are two glazing bar casements, all set under timber lintels. Above the door, there is a stone inscribed with "DDN 1826" and a moulded cornice. At the eaves level of the roof, there are two 20th-century gabled dormers with two-light casements and rendered cheeks.
