Description

The barn at Palace Farm is a 17th-century structure that was underbuilt in the 18th century and altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed and banded limestone rubble and ashlar, featuring quoins. The barn has a steeply pitched roof made of asbestos sheets and is a single-storey building with a three-bay front and a plinth. There are three planked doors, with the middle door being part of the blocking of a former wide opening. Vertical slot breathers are present. Inside, the barn was originally timber framed with five bays but is now entirely underbuilt in stone, likely due to a fire in 1775. It has a clasped purlin roof.
