Description
9 and 10 Maiden Lane is a medieval house that has been modified in the 18th and 19th centuries, resulting in a plain cement-rendered front and a roof covered with Welsh slates. The building features two gabled and roughcast dormers that contain casement windows, specifically at No 9. There is a 19th-century cottage door set into a 16th-century window space, where a transom serves as a lintel, and the two upper mullioned lights function as a fanlight. Next to this, there is an early 19th-century hung sash window with glazing bars, all under a moulded label, along with part of a second mullioned window. No 9 also has a wood oriel, which predates the 16th century, featuring 19th-century glazing over a moulded corbel with a heraldic badge. No 10 has a 19th-century shop front with plain pilasters and one sash window with large glazing bars, along with a modern door. Nos 2, 3, and Nos 5 to 10 form a group.
