Description
The Old Schoolhouse is a former school and school house, now a residential property, built in 1832 with minor alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features stone coped slate roofs with kneelers, a double ashlar ridge stack, and a metal conical ventilator. The building has an L-plan layout and is a single storey with a four-bay front. The third bay from the left is advanced and has a separate gable, containing a Tudor arched doorway with a stepped hood mould and a ribbed planked door. Above the doorway, there is a rectangular recess with a hood mould that displays the raised inscription "C.C.T. 1832," referring to Christopher Turnor of Stoke Rochford Hall. To the left of the doorway are single three-light and two-light windows, and to the far left, there is another two-light window. All windows feature chamfered stone mullions, plain casements, and hood moulds. To the right, there is a lower recessed blank wing.
