Description
The barn at Church Farm is a large structure dating from the 16th century, currently used as a machine store. It is built from squared limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. The barn has stone-coped gables and a moulded ridge piece, topped with a slate roof. It is a single-storey, single-bay building with a plinth and a central blocked segmental-headed opening that has an ashlar surround. There are vertical breather slots present. On one side, there is a matching wide archway, which is covered by 20th-century sliding doors.
Inside, the barn has five main bays supported by a strutted queen post roof, featuring arch-braced ties on stone corbels. The roof includes double through purlins and curved windbracing, resembling the roof of the nearby Old Rectory.
