Description
Casthorpe Farmhouse and the adjoining stable range date back to around 1800, with alterations made in the early 19th century and around 1870. The building is constructed of whitewashed stucco and features pantile roofs, which include three gable stacks and one ridge brick stack. It has a plinth and eaves, and stands two storeys high with a five-window range in an L-plan layout.
The front of the farmhouse has five 16-pane sash windows with blind boxes. At the center, there is a 19th-century flat-roofed square porch that has a mid-20th century glazed double door and overlight. This porch is flanked by canted flat-roofed bay windows with plain sashes. The parallel rear wing on the right side has two 12-pane sashes with stone balconies supported by brackets, along with a board door below.
To the right of the farmhouse is the lower two-storey stable range, which has five windows and features 19th-century fenestration with segment arched openings. Beyond this, there is a single-storey range with five bays, characterized by dentillated eaves and a ridge stack.
