Description
No 5 St Mary's Hill is a 17th-century building, dating from 1671, with later 18th-century alterations. It is two storeys high with attics, constructed from coursed rubble. The steep roof is covered with stone slates and features one gabled dormer. The building has a parapet and stone quoins. There is one window set in a stone rusticated reveal, with a slightly segmental arch, and it contains double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The late 19th-century shop front includes a four-panel door with a rectangular fanlight to the right. An inserted date stone reads 1658, which may indicate the original house's date, although no visible work from that time remains except for the roof. This property forms a group with No 4 and the Bridge at St Martin's.
