Description
The Sycamores is an early 19th-century large house located on Double Street. It stands three storeys high with a basement, constructed of brick. The building features a very wide eaves cornice supported by paired modillions. There are five windows with plain reveals and hung sashes that include glazing bars. The ground floor has four windows. The central entrance boasts a wood doorcase in the Greek Ionic style, complete with a decorated modillion pediment and a traceried fanlight. The door is part-glazed and is carved to match the design of the ingoes. To the left, there are two smaller side wings that are two storeys tall, one of which has a modern porch and a round-arched window. The right side features a round-arched entry with a modern door and sidelights, along with a similar window. The Sycamores is part of a group that includes Nos 12, 13, and 13A.
