Description

The Limes is an early 18th century house located on the west side of Double Street. The main section is constructed of local brick with rusticated quoins, while a left-hand section features pilaster mullions. The building has two storeys and a slate roof. A prominent moulded stone cornice runs along the entire length of the building. The main section is finished with a brick parapet topped with moulded stone capping and a central panel of balusters. Three dormers are present, each with a moulded segmental head. The windows are hung sashes with glazing bars, set in moulded stone frames. A wide stone band separates the two storeys. There are three brick stacks. The central entrance features a six-panel door within a moulded case, above which is a semi-circular traceried fanlight, a moulded open pediment with modillions, and console brackets. The left-hand section contains windows with three lights to each storey, utilising hung sashes with glazing bars, and moulded surrounds. A modern garden wall is present. The Limes is part of a group with Nos 13 and 13A.
