Description
Holland House is a house dating to circa 1768, likely designed by William Sands, Junior, with alterations made circa 1845. It is constructed of brick. The central three-storey section features a modillion pediment and is flanked by two two-storey canted bays with balustraded parapets and modillion cornices. Each bay has three windows with keystones and moulded surrounds; these windows lack glazing bars. Stone bands delineate the storeys and cap the plinth. The central section has a modillion pediment above two round-headed windows with triple keystones, and a central window within a rectangular moulded surround with a keystone. A Venetian window is located on the first floor. The ground floor features two round-headed windows with pilasters and triple keystones. The doorway is topped by an open pediment on brackets, with plain pilasters and panelled reveals to the door, and four steps leading up to it. The interior retains some good 19th-century marble mantelpieces. A later wing, of two storeys, is located on the right side and is constructed of brick with a panelled parapet and modillion cornice, four windows with moulded surrounds and keystones, and hung sashes featuring glazing bars on two storeys. A band separates the storeys, and there is a capped plinth. A round-headed doorway with a keystone is situated on the right side of this wing. Holland House forms a group with Nos 12, 14, and 15, and the Warehouse occupied by G W Plowman and Son.
