Description
Monk's House is an early 16th-century house constructed in ashlar, believed to have been a Grange of the Priory. It has an L-shaped plan and features a pantiled roof. The main block consists of two storeys, while the gabled end rises to three storeys. On the ground floor, there are two mullioned and transomed windows with three and five lights, both adorned with moulded stone labels. A small central doorway features a four-centred arch and a moulded label. The gable end windows, which do not have transoms, include six, four, and three lights. There are also windows with three lights and a modern door on the gable end facing the road. The house has two early brick stacks, one of which has been extensively restored. A moulded string course and a low plinth add to its architectural detail. Most windows have modern glazing, although some retain early casements. Inside, there are two notable moulded stone fireplaces, each with a four-centred arch.
