Description

St. Heliers' is a late 18th-century house, with minor 19th-century alterations, located on the north side of Donington Market Place. The house is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with a slate roof, brick coped tumbled gables and two brick gable stacks. It is two storeys high, plus attics, and has a three-bay front. A modillion cornice runs along the top of the front elevation. A central six-panel door is set within a fluted pilastered doorcase, which has a dentillated open pediment, and is flanked by single margin light sash windows. Above, on the first floor, are three similar windows. All windows are topped with rubbed flat brick arches. Three glazing bar sash dormers are set into the roof, each with a lead segmental head and slate hung cheeks. The interior contains a stick baluster dogleg staircase with a hardwood handrail, original six-panel doors and shutters.
