Description

The wellhead located 10 metres north of Rookery Cottage is a 17th-century structure that was restored in the 20th century. It is built from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and has a circular plan, standing 2 metres high. The wellhead features an ogee cap topped with a much weathered ball finial. The south side has a round arched opening with ashlar quoins, large ashlar impost blocks, and an ashlar keystone. This wellhead is similar to others found in Digby, Coleby, and Wellingore. Note that Rookery Cottage itself is not included in this listing.
