Description
The Old House is a house dating from 1655 that was restored in the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed and banded limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a 20th-century pantile roof with ashlar coped gables and a large double moulded ashlar stack. The house has ashlar quoins and is designed in a three-bay, lobby entry plan, standing two storeys plus attics.
The off-centre doorway has a 20th-century half-glazed door set within a roll moulded ashlar surround topped by a flat moulded hood. Flanking the doorway are single three-light, ovolo moulded mullion windows with flat moulded hoods, and to the left, there is a single two-light window of similar design. Above the door is a two-light window, flanked by three-light windows, with another two-light window to the left, all featuring ovolo moulded mullions and flat moulded hoods. Above this, there is a large dormer window with an ashlar coped gable, containing a two-light ovolo mullion window with a flat hood, and above it is a shield inscribed 'K.B.E 1655'.
On the south front, which is a single bay gable, there are three-light ovolo mullion windows on each storey, with a two-light ovolo mullion window in the attic, all of which have flat moulded hoods.
