Description
A row of four cottages dating from the early 19th century, located in Silver Street, Branston and Mere. The cottages are constructed of alternating wide rubble courses, with ashlar and brick dressings. The roof is slate, featuring decorated ridge finials, and two gables with brick and ashlar coped gables, moulded kneelers and finials. The cottages are two-and-a-half storeys high. The central portion of the row is recessed, with two two-light chamfered mullion windows with plain sashes and brick dripmoulds. Flanking this central section are glazed doors with four-centred arches. The outer bays project, each containing a single two-light chamfered mullion window with plain sashes and dripmoulds. Two outer doorways are present, fitted with 19th-century plank doors and dripmoulds. Above the doorways are four two-light chamfered mullion windows with plain sashes. Two small, pointed attic casements are set into the roof, with brick voussoirs.
