Description
Fern Farmhouse is a house, gate, and railings dating from the early 18th century, with elements from 1775 and the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring ashlar dressings and rusticated quoins. The roof is made of pantiles with raised stone coped gables and two brick gable stacks. The building is two storeys plus a garret and has a three-bay front. The first floor has a moulded stone band and a central six-panel door with a plain overlight, flanked by single plain sash windows. The first floor also features three similar windows. All openings have splayed ashlar lintels with keyblocks. On the right-hand quoin, there is an inscription that reads 'Rob. Bradley, 1775'. To the left, there is a projecting service bay with a steeply pitched roof, which contains a single plain sash window with a timber lintel in the gable. In front of the house, there is a low wrought iron screen of railings with spearhead finials and a gate with curvilinear rails.
