Description
Osbournby House is a house built in the late 18th century, with alterations and an addition from the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a slate roof with stone coped gables and two ashlar gable stacks with moulded cornices. The building has a U-plan layout and is two storeys high with a three-bay front that includes a dentillated eaves course. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door set within a 19th-century gabled porch that has a semi-circular headed opening and sidelights. On either side of the door are plain sash windows. The first floor also features three similar windows. The lower windows have cambered ashlar heads with keyblocks. The lower rear wings exhibit 19th and 20th-century window styles. This house is mentioned in detail in Arthur Young's "General View of the Agriculture of the County of Lincolnshire" from 1813 and was built for Mr. Hoyte, a farmer from Osbournby.
