Description
The Dovecote in The Old Stackyard is a house with a dovecote, originally a cartshed and dovecote, dating from the early 19th century and converted around 1988. It is built from coursed limestone rubble with brick dressings, timber-framing, and has both slate and pantile roofs, featuring red brick quoins. The single-storey former cartshed has been converted into a dwelling, and on the eastern gable, there is a large two-stage timber-framed dovecote. The lower stage includes timber-framing with rendered infill and a small plank door, topped by a hipped slate roof. Above this is a smaller square cupola with wood-clad sides and six flight holes on each face, finished with a pyramidal slate roof and topped by a wooden finial.
