Description
The barn at Home Farm is a country house that dates from the late 16th century and was converted in the 17th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and brick, with ashlar dressings and a pantile roof. The east front features a central bricked-up barn doorway that contains a smaller doorway with a 19th-century plank door and a segment head. On either side of this doorway are the projecting bases of large external stacks. To the right, there is a tall blocked single light window with a chamfered surround, and to the left, a large three-light recessed and chamfered mullion and transom window, which is now blocked. The south gable shows evidence of a large blocked opening, and above it is a two-light recessed and chamfered mullion and transom window, also blocked. The west front has large 20th-century metal barn doors. The interior of the barn once contained fireplaces, which have since been moved to Thorganby Hall.
