Description
The Rest is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the late 17th century and was remodelled around 1900 with a design that features sham timber framing. The building is constructed of random rubble and brick, with some areas whitewashed, and includes timber framing with brick nogging. It has a plain tile roof with a single gable stack and two ridge stacks, one of which is external.
The structure has a rubble plinth and a coved jettied first floor on the north and west sides, along with fretted bargeboards. The east gable displays a pattern of squares made from raised brickwork. The windows are primarily leaded casements with wooden mullions and round-headed lights, dating from around 1900. The building is two storeys high plus attics and has an L-plan layout with two bays.
On the west side, there is an elliptical-headed door flanked by three-light and two-light windows. Above this, there is a four-light window in the left gable and a three-light window to the right. Further up, there is a two-light window in the gable peak, and to the right, a gabled dormer with a two-light window. The north side features a half-glazed corner door, with a three-light window and a two-light window to the left, and above, a two-light window to the right.
