Description

Lloyd's Bank is a bank building constructed around 1900 by William Mortimer & Son for the Capital & Counties Bank. It is designed in the Baroque Revival style and features ashlar stonework with lead roofs.

The exterior has a rusticated ground floor and quoins, with a cornice and modillion eaves, topped by a blind balustraded parapet. The building is three storeys tall with attics and consists of three rows of five bays. The rounded north-east corner includes a moulded doorcase with a hood and crest, along with a single window on each floor above it. A square corner tower features a cornice, balustrade, and a round-headed window with an Ionic surround.

On the High Street front, there are three round-headed windows with keystones, and above them, three additional windows on each floor. The attic has two windows with modillion hoods supported by single shafts, each adorned with a crest on brackets. The north front has four round-headed windows with a door to the right. Above these, there are three windows flanked by single round-headed recesses containing windows in Ionic surrounds with pediments. Further up, there are three more windows, and the attic features three dormers with gabled and segmental pediments, flanked by single pedimented gables, each containing an oval window with a keystone.

The interior has not been inspected. The building has also been attributed to H.G. Gamble.
