Description

No. 11-13 on Bridge Street is a late 17th century building, with alterations around 1760 and further modifications in the 20th century. It is constructed of rendered red brick and features slate roofs with brick coped gables and moulded brick eaves. The building has an L-plan layout, with a late 17th century range at the rear.

It stands two storeys high with an attic and has a four-bay east front that includes a first-floor band. The two 18th century shop fronts are positioned side by side, each featuring a pilastered doorway on the left with a partially glazed door, and a bowed shop window on the right that has small glazing bars, flanking pilasters, and a continuous bracketed entablature with an ornate band. Above, there are two glazing bar sashes to the left, a single blind opening to the right with a segmental head, and a single glazing bar sash beyond. All windows have segmental heads, and there are two blocked flat-headed dormers above.

The north front has three bays, including a gable end to the left and a first-floor band, with a second-floor band on the gable end. There is a single glazing bar sash with a segmental head in the gable end, a doorway to the right with a reeded doorcase and a panelled door, and a 20th century two-light casement beyond. There is also a blind opening with a segmental head above in the gable end, and a glazing bar sash to the right with a segmental head. Above, there are two small, blocked, flat-headed dormers.

The west gable end features a brick coped and tumbled gable with two dentillated bands.
