Description

The Methodist Chapel, built in 1839 with later additions in the late 19th and 20th centuries, is constructed of red brick with some areas of render and features a hipped slate roof. The building stands two storeys high with a three-bay front, highlighted by giant order corner pilasters and a slightly projecting central bay. A set of three steps leads up to the central doorway, which has a 20th-century semi-circular head and surround, a fanlight, and a plank door. Above the doorway is a painted plaque inscribed with 'Wesleyan Centenary Chapel 1839'.

Flanking the doorway are two semi-circular headed glazing bar sash windows, with three similar glazing bar sashes located above, the central one featuring a 20th-century surround. Both the west and east sides of the chapel have two glazing bar sashes on each floor, all with flush wedge painted lintels. The north side is rendered and has two small glazing bar sashes positioned closer to the outer walls, along with two semi-circular headed 19th-century fixed windows above, which include margin lights.

Inside, the chapel features a curved, panelled gallery that sweeps around three sides and is supported by plain iron columns. There is an ornate late 19th-century reading desk platform with turned balusters and a lower ornate wrought iron rail, along with late 19th-century pews.
