Description

The cross located on Church Lane in Friskney dates from the mid-15th century and was partially re-cut in the 17th century. It is made of limestone ashlar and features a rectangular plinth with a large grotesque animal on each side, similar to those found on the buttresses of the nearby church. The shaft tapers and has broached stops at the base. Above the shaft, there is a gabled hood that displays crucifixion scenes on both sides. These figures were re-cut in the 17th century, and they are depicted wearing clothing from that period.
