Description
Hornbeck House is a house dating from the late 18th century, raised in the early 19th century, with some later 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of red brick with some yellow brick and has a slate roof. The building features two red and yellow brick gable stacks, a deep plinth, and a first-floor band. It is two storeys high with five bays, the central bay being gabled. The central doorway has a six-fielded panel door, a traceried overlight, and a decorative architrave. To the right, there is a single 19th-century projecting bay window that occupies two bays, featuring four lights at the front and single similar lights on each side, each with a single transom and glazing bars above. The bay window has a panelled frieze, dentil cornice, and entablature. To the left of the doorway are two segmental arched glazing bar sashes, and above them are two similar sashes with a small central segmental arched sash. In front of the house, there is a low brick wall that extends for about 16 metres, topped with decorative cast iron railings from the 19th century. The interior includes box shutters.
