Description

The Non-Conformist Cemetery Chapel, built in 1879, is now used as a store room. It features red brick, some stock brick, and limestone ashlar dressings. The chapel has a steeply pitched hipped slate roof with stock brick eaves and a rectangular plan that culminates in an apsidal south end. A stock brick dressed plinth encircles the entire structure.

The north front has three bays, with four regularly spaced two-stage buttresses that have ashlar set-offs. The central bay projects slightly and is topped by a gable that includes a tall bellcote with a steeply pitched gable, a pointed bell opening with a hood mould, and stock brick decoration. The central doorway has a pointed head and a moulded, double chamfered surround, along with a hood mould and a plank door. Above the doorway is a plaque with a quatrefoil inscribed 'AD 1879'.

Flanking the doorway are single pointed windows with stock brick surrounds and ashlar hood moulds, which are accented by stock brick bands above and below. The east and west sides each feature two stock brick bands and two pointed windows with stock brick surrounds and ashlar hood moulds, alternating with three two-stage buttresses that have ashlar set-offs. The apsidal south end includes two stock brick bands and three pointed windows with stock brick surrounds and ashlar hood moulds, alternating with four two-stage buttresses with ashlar set-offs.

Inside, there are two ashlar bands running around the entire chapel, and the roof is multi-timbered in a hip style. The chapel also contains a contemporary pulpit and pews.
