Description
The stable ruins at Tattershall Castle are believed to date from around 1440. Constructed from red brick with ashlar dressings, the structure is two stories high and features an incomplete three-bay front. On the left side, there is a segmental arched doorway, while to the right, there are two window openings and four tethering rings embedded in the wall. The left gable has a plinth and two projecting stacks, with one stack corbelled out at the first-floor level. The ground floor includes two windows, and the first floor has a single window, all featuring two lights with cusped heads and moulded stone surrounds. Inside, the ground floor originally had a basket arched fireplace, which has since been replaced by a segmental arch, flanked by single pointed niches. The site is designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
