Description
Tattershall Castle Almshouses, originally consisting of 10 almshouses but now 5, were founded in the 15th century by Ralph Cromwell. They were remodeled in the 17th century and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick, with some ashlar stone used on the gable ends and the plinth. It features a pantile roof with raised brick coped gables and has two gable and four axial red brick stacks. The single-storey structure has a 21-bay front that includes five planked doors and 16 20th-century two-light windows, six of which are in the blocking of earlier doors. All doors and 11 of the windows have segmental brick heads, while the remaining windows have flat heads.
