Description
This is a pair of shops with living accommodation above, dating to the late 18th century, around 1825, the late 19th century, and the 20th century. The building is constructed of brown brick with painted stucco dressings, and has a slate roof with wooden eaves and gable stacks. It is three storeys high and has a four-bay front. A central carriage archway has a segmental head. A 20th-century shop front is on the right, with a doorway to the left incorporating an overlight and glazed door, and a plate glass window to the right. To the left is an early 19th-century shop front featuring a doorway with a pilastered doorcase, an overlight, and double-panelled doors. A canted shop window is on the left, with fielded panelling below and a continuous panelled entablature. Three glazing bar sashes from around 1825 have painted wedge lintels. A late 19th-century tripartite plain sash has a painted rectangular lintel. Four glazing bar sashes above have painted wedge lintels. The west front, which is three storeys and six bays wide, faces a passage to the right. A doorway on the left has a pilastered doorcase, a traceried overlight, an entablature, and a panelled door. This doorway is flanked by single glazing bar sashes with segmental heads. To the right of this, there is a late 18th-century bow window with glazing bars and a moulded entablature. A doorway to the right has an overlight and a panelled door, followed by a tripartite glazing bar sash with a segmental head. Six glazing bar sashes are above, all with segmental heads. Four small glazing bar sashes are above them to the left, with blocked windows to the right, alongside a single glazing bar sash, all with segmental heads.
