Description
This is a late 18th-century building consisting of numbers 15 to 19 on the east side of Upgate. It is a single building of three storeys constructed in brick, topped with a pantile roof and featuring three brick chimneys. An eaves cornice is supported by modillions. The building originally had six windows, with stucco lintels, and most retain their original wooden hung sash windows. Number 17 has more recent casement windows. The first floor windows are longer and have glazing bars, except for those at number 17, which have marginal glazing. Three 19th-century shop fronts are present, characterized by plain pilasters and a continuous entablature, with windows divided into lights by iron uprights. The door to number 15 has frosted glass in the lower two panels; the door to number 17 has four panels, two of which are glazed. Rendered stall risers are visible, except at number 19, where they are tiled. Numbers 13 to 25 (odd) are grouped together.
