Description
The Fleece Inn is a building that consists of two houses, now functioning as an inn. It dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century, with some 20th-century alterations. The structure is made of thickly rendered, colourwashed brick with painted stucco dressings and features pantile roofs. The roof of the house on the left is slightly higher than the other. It has continuous 19th-century moulded wooden eaves, gable stacks, and a single ridge stack.
The inn has two storeys and a six-bay front with a painted plinth. The three bays on the right are from the late 18th century, while the three bays on the left are from the early 19th century. There is a doorway on the right that has a pilastered doorcase with a panelled reveal, an entablature, an overlight, and a panelled door. This doorway is flanked by single glazing bar sashes with segmental heads. On the left, there is another doorway with a stucco wedge lintel featuring voussoirs and a partially glazed panelled door, which is also flanked by single glazing bar sashes with cambered heads. Above, there are six glazing bar sashes, with the three on the right being smaller.
