Description

12 High Street is a Grade II listed building that originally consisted of three cottages with a shop, now converted into a single cottage with a shop. It dates from the mid-18th century, with an extension added to the north in the early 19th century and further alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of thickly rendered brick and features a pantile roof that is hipped to the west, with a single ridge and gable stacks.

The west front has a single storey and attic, presenting a five-bay façade that includes a two-storey bay on the left. The main entrance is a doorway with a panelled door, flanked by single glazing bar sashes with segmental heads. To the right, there is a small glazing bar sash with a segmental head, which has been partially inserted into a blocked doorway. There is another doorway to the left, which has an overlight and a partially glazed door, with a glazing bar sash above it. To the right, there are two segmental-headed dormers featuring two-light sliding sashes.

The north front is two storeys high and has three bays, with a high plinth. Three steps lead up to a doorway that has a segmental head and a panelled door. To the left of the doorway is a plain sash window with a segmental head. There is an early 20th-century shop front to the right, which includes a small moulded cornice and two small glazing bar sashes above. The east gable end reveals the raised front of the building.
