Description
The Cottage is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made around 1800 and in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond and has a pantile roof, featuring two shortened gable stacks. The building has a two-storey, three-bay front with a short plinth. A central 20th-century gabled brick porch contains a half-glazed and panelled door, flanked by two single two-light glazing bar sliding sashes with segmental heads. On the first floor, there are three two-light sliding sashes. At the rear, there is a contemporary single-storey pent lean-to with a tumbled coped gable, which has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. Inside, the cottage retains two chamfered beams, one of which is simply stopped, and there is a blocked inglenook fireplace with an 18th-century brick bake oven in the corner.
